Diego Gitano

ABOUT ME

I’m Dr. Diego Gitano, a Clinical Psychologist, Art Therapist, and Social Inclusion Specialist, dedicated to empowering individuals through transformative therapeutic journeys. With a deep passion for understanding the complexities of human experience, I combine psychology and art therapy to create a safe, supportive space where each person’s unique story can be heard, valued, and healed.

I hold a degree in Clinical Psychology from Rome, a diploma in Counselling with Art Therapy, and I’m currently specialising in Individual, Couples, and Group Psychotherapy with Analytic Psychodrama at the Mosaico Psicologie Institute in Naples.

Alongside my psychological training, I have a strong background in socio-political and intercultural studies. I earned a degree in International Relations, a specialisation in Arab-Islamic Studies from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, and a Master’s in Security Studies. I also had the privilege of living and studying in the Middle East, thanks to a scholarship from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition to my private practice, I collaborate with the Mental Health Department of ASL Napoli 1 DSB 32/33, secondary schools, and NGOs, contributing to prevention and psychological support programmes for adults, teenagers, and groups.

My experience extends beyond the clinical setting into complex human and cultural environments, both in Italy and abroad. I’ve worked with the Club de Madrid in Spain, partnering with former heads of state from over 70 countries on social inclusion, diversity, and minority support projects. I’ve also worked with Save the Children Italy, supporting vulnerable children and families in southern Italy.

During the peak of migration flows, I worked closely with refugees and migrants, supporting people in highly vulnerable psychological and physical conditions. My career began in the socio-political sector, where I worked as an analyst, managing international crises and ensuring the safety of personnel abroad.

These international and multidisciplinary experiences have deepened my understanding of human and cultural dynamics, enriching my clinical approach and enabling me to provide therapy that is sensitive to each patient’s unique needs.

Every therapeutic journey I create is unique—just like every person I meet.
